• The typical toner catridge can weigh approximately 3 pounds and is composed mostly of plastic, metal, and small percentages of rubber, paper, and foam. A large portion of this material can be broken down and reused. • Don't throw your spent toner cartridge in the trash! Some schools and non-profit organizations will accept them to earn 'Technology Credits' with which they can purchase new equipment. • Some businesses will actually pay you for your spent toner cartridges. While we are not one of those businesses, we will accept your spent cartridges and make sure they are disposed of in a responsible manner.

American Printer Service, Inc. And Our Environment American Printer Service, Inc. and its employees are proud inhabitants of the Pacific Northwest. Many of our employees regularly enjoy the immense beauty surrounding us. Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Saint Helens, Crater Lake...just a few of the vast natural landscapes adding to the year-round beauty enjoyed by millions of Oregonians and Washingtonians daily. Our employees actively utilize the wilderness for hiking, rock climbing, running, skiing, snowboarding, camping, and much, much more! We believe it is the duty of every person to help preserve the environment for generations to come. It is an unfortunate part of our business that we deal with products that are made of materials which have earned a bad reputation due to their impact on the environment. Most printers are made out of hard, industrial strength plastics and metal, and spent toner cartridges have always been at the forefront of avid environmentalists' movements to keep landfills...well, unfilled. Small businesses like ourselves are often left in the middle of the debate, wanting to do the environmentally sound thing but many times having to choose the alternative route because of product availability, or quality, or even just price. American Printer Service, Inc. is committed to helping offset its environmental impact in the following ways. We encourage employees at our offices to practice sound recycling procedures for all in-house generated trash by providing them with on-site recycling stations for most consumable items. We have a longstanding relationship with C&M Recycling, a local and respectable business, who we count on to recycle our used and damaged printer components in a responsible manner. We also offer our customers the option of returning spent ink and toner cartridges to us at no cost for recycling, effectively negating the temptation to just throw it in the trash can (American Printer Service, Inc. does NOT collect used cartridges for use in the manufacturing or reselling of its own toner cartridges due to our experience that using such components greatly increases the chance of cartridge failure. We use a third party recycler to recycle spent toner cartridges that are returned to us by our customers). Although we admit that we will probably never be able to completely offset our own environmental impact, we are trying. As new technology arises, we hope to continue to be a responsible business committed to taking care of our surrounding environment. For current American Printer Service, Inc. toner customers, you can EMAIL US for a Return Label for your spent toner cartridges! The Return Label will allow you to have the cartridge shipped to our Corporate Offices at no cost to you for recycling. Please include the make and model of the cartridge you would like to return. American Printer Service, Inc. also encourages its employees to support and volunteer for local organizations whose Mission Statements include caring for and protecting the environment. Besides volunteering, many of our employees are also members of (or support) organizations that are helping keep our planet beautiful for years to come.
