American Printer Service, Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions
At American Printer Service, Inc. we take calls from customers from all over Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington who have questions about printer repair. I'm fairly sure that we've heard every printer repair question imaginable, from "How do I turn my new printer on?" to "How do I go about trying to change out a Drive Gear Assembly? (We don't recommend that you try this one at home, folks!)" Here is a small collection of some of the frequently asked questions that we've been asked through the 25+ years we've been in the printer repair business.
Q: I need a printer repaired. What information do you need?
A: In order to place a printer service request with American Printer Service, Inc., it is helpful if you have the make and model of the printer to be serviced along with a brief description of the problem you're encountering. In addition, you will need to have the business name, address, phone number, and contact number available.
Q: How much will it cost me to have my printer repaired?
A: As all printer makes and models are unique and present unique problems, there really is no clear answer to this question. American Printer Service, Inc. has a minimum charge of 1 hour per unit, plus parts, plus travel, which is negotiable depending on the distance involved. If you would like a more accurate estimate, when you call in a printer service request, we will do our best to provide you with our best estimations of what it will cost to have your particular printer repaired.
Q: How long will it take to have my printer repaired?
A: Again, this is a question with no real clear answer. Typically speaking, if no parts are involved (i.e. - cleaning or removing a paper jam), our response time is same day and you'll have your printer back in working condition on the same day. If parts are involved, it depends on the make and model of the printer. Typically, we receive parts we order on the next business day but there are some exceptions for particular makes of printers.
Q: How are your Technicians trained?
A: All Printer Repair Technicians employed by American Printer Service, Inc. are professionals in printer repair. Our Technicians have been factory trained to repair a variety of different makes and models of printers. American Printer Service, Inc. is also an Authorized Service Provider for Xerox Corporation.
Q: I'd like a quote for having my printers covered under a Maintenance Agreement. Can you help?
A: Absolutely. We have a variety of customers who choose to have their laser printers and line printers covered under a Maintenance Agreement, saving hundreds of dollars in parts and labor each month. We would be happy to provide your company with a quote. Just send us an email or give us a call with your location and the makes and models of the printers you'd like covered.
Q: Do you sell new and / or refurbished printers?
A: Yes. We are able to provide your company with new, delivered and installed units to fit all your printing requirements, from high quality plotters to personal laser printers. Just let us know a little bit about your intended usage and preferred make and we'll off you a few suggestions. Refurbished units are available from American Printer Service, Inc. for some models depending on availability.
Q: Do you sell consumables?
A: Yes. We stock some new compatible toner cartridges for widely used printers and can order cartridges for just about any printer on the market. If you need a particular toner cartridge, please give us a call or send us an email and we'll give you a quote!
Q: What is your service area?
A: American Printer Service, Inc. currently has offices in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. We operate throughout the I-5 corridor of Oregon and Washington State. If you're outside of this area but still in need of a printer repair company, please give us a call and try our best to help you out!
Q: Can I bring a printer to you to have it repaired?
A: Yes. We accept walk-in printer repair requests at our location in Portland, Oregon ONLY during normal office hours. We typically close the office from 12-1PM for the lunch hour. We recommend you call first though as we may be able to give you some information about your printer service request that could save you from making a trip to American Printer Service, Inc. if we are unable to repair your printer.
Q: Can I mail a printer to you to repair?
A: Yes. American Printer Service, Inc. does do Depot Maintenance for printers. Believe it or not, we have had printers shipped to us from as far away as Alaska! You can check out our Depot Maintenance page for more information.
